Date:   16 Feb 1882
Colliery:   Trimdon Grange
Cause:   Explosion
Lives Lost:   74
Location:   St. Helen's Parish Church/Cemetery, Kelloe (OS Map 93, Grid Ref NZ345365)
Trimdon Cemetery (OS Map 93, Grid Ref NZ375342)

Two identical monuments were erected in Trimdon Cemetery and in Kelloe Churchyard - the difference between the monuments being the list of victims buried there.

The names on both monuments have been eroded by the action of the weather, however the name slabs for the monument in Trimdon Cemetery were renovated and blessed and dedicated by the Bishop of Durham on 16th March 1991. The new name slabs have been laid on the ground around the memorial.

We have included photographs of both monuments in this section.
